Amy's Grill & Cafe sits quietly on Mission Blvd in Hayward, serving up a blend of brunch-friendly bistro fare with a Vietnamese twist. This spot operates as a casual, full-service restaurant where locals drop in for a hearty breakfast or brunch without the fuss of a trendy crowd or modern decor. The interior is straightforward and shows signs of having been around a while, giving off a lived-in, no-frills vibe that’s more about the food than the ambiance.

The menu leans heavily into classic American breakfast staples like omelettes loaded with cheese and meats, Eggs Benedict variations, and a range of sandwiches and burgers, alongside playful dishes such as their “Chlorine Flavored Waffle” and "Monster Burrito," which locals have described as uniquely styled and a bit different from expectations. Many diners appreciate how generous the portions are, and items like the hash browns and breakfast sandwiches tend to get positive nods for being well prepared and satisfying.

Service here moves at a comfortable pace—fast enough for a weekday brunch stop but not rushed. The staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming, which helps offset the venue’s simple décor and older style. Outdoor seating is available, making it a practical choice for those who want some fresh air during their meal, especially on sunnier days.

This is a practical spot best suited for anyone looking for a straightforward brunch or lunch with a mix of Vietnamese elements without the typical modern café atmosphere. It’s a place where families, workers from nearby areas, and longtime locals come for filling breakfasts or casual midday meals, especially during quieter weekday mornings when the vibe is particularly relaxed.

Parking ample, the location blends into Hayward’s everyday rhythm rather than standing out, making Amy’s more about dependable, homey comfort food served in a familiar setting than a destination fueled by style or novelty.

This place was a little hard to find.   It has ample parking and seating.  They also had outdoor seating as well.  The place was simply decorated but feels like it's been here a little while.  The vibe was pretty chill, and the people who worked here were nice. I placed our order for to-go, items were: 1.  Monster burrito -  I didn't know this was the type of burrito you eat with a fork, but my husband loved it, so much I didn't even get to try it. 2.  Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs - I was a little disappointed they didn't have biscuits. I wanted to have it with this.  The chicken fried steak was super crispy along with the crispy hashbrowns and over medium eggs.. it was perfection.. 3.  Cornbeef hash with eggs and rice - delicious, nice, and crispy. I especially loved that you can have rice as a side 4.  Side order of sausage patty - delicious, especially when you dip it with gravy and put it on a slice of bread. 5.  French toast - Amazing!! I didn't even need syrup, but it was good with syrup as well. I can't wait to come back and try their other items.

I like when chefs have their own versions. The Monster burrito was actually pretty small. They make it different style. Taste not bad. It's ok. The omelette looks like scramble eggs.

Table wait times can be on the longer side, the food options and their taste is well worth it! All the dishes we tried were delicious and made to perfection. We tried a few types of specialty omelets and they were all good. My favorite was the California avocado florentine eggs. The waffles as desserts would have to wait for our next trip, the milkshake was that good. Highly recommend!

My favorite brunch spot! Hidden gem with huge portions. Breakfast is excellent, whatever way you choose. Love the omelets, hash browns, waffle, burgers, fries. Cool cook + waitresses. Location is a bit off the grid, definitely stop by if you're in the area. I'll add photos later, can't find em'
